    MMS

Many iPhone users may let out a massive cry of joy or dread tomorrow based on how AT&T’s network holds up to the MMS service that they will be releasing. If you have been paying attention you may know that tomorrow Sept. 25th late morning AT&T will be releasing it’s MMS update for iPhones via iTunes finally. What exactly is MMS and what does this mean for AT&T? Read on to find out.

MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service and supports many kinds of media from pictures to videos and even contact files. The lack of MMS has been a big complaint about the iPhone and tomorrow these complaints should be slaked. This is a very welcomed addition to the iPhone as long as AT&T is able to handle the network traffic they will encounter.

From what I have read AT&T are very nervous for this MMS release. Around mid-September AT&T discreetly released the MMS update to a random selection of iPhone users. Since then those users with MMS have provided record traffic on the network during the peak hours of the night which might offer some concern for tomorrow when every iPhone user will have MMS enabled. AT&T admitted that they have released MMS for iPhones late saying they wanted to provide a positive customer experience from the beginning so hopefully the extra time was well spent by AT&T and will show in their final product tomorrow.

Everyone is hoping that tomorrow’s MMS update goes over smooth for AT&T’s network and iPhone users alike. Just be glad that the waiting is over and the only thing left to do is to get ready for the addition of a brand new dimension to the already extremely robust iPhone platform.
