I’ve been telling many of you that over the first quarter of the year, I have been working very hard on a major change for BestMacs. Today, I can reveal that change: we’re dumping Mac support and switching to Windows.
This move is spurred by three major influences:
1. Windows 7. It’s like Microsoft took everything that was wrong with Vista and made it right. I mean, the ads are right: the “snap” feature, and the updated task bar that let’s you see everything. Windows 7 is now clearly easier to use and support than a Mac. Those people who claim Windows 7 was their idea are so freaking smart.
2. No more niche. Mac sales may be growing, but Windows computers still dominate the marketplace. If BestMacs is going to grow beyond our current business, it just makes sense to stop focusing on a niche market and target a much bigger pool of prospects.
3. iPad. Let’s face it: this thing is going to fail miserably. No multitasking? No Flash? Everyone knows that all the really good websites use Flash. So how is anyone seriously going to use the web when they can’t visit the good sites? How are people supposed to listen to Pandora when it stops if they check their email? Forget it. The whole iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch thing is full of FAIL. We’re not going down with Apple’s sinking ship.
This change will not be easy. We will work with all of our existing clients to start developing a plan to replace their Macs with new Dell PCs. We will start with your servers – even though they are often 15X more expensive than a Mini Server, you’ll find that the expense is well worth it.
Likewise, I will soon be announcing new employees. It’s clear that Jacob and Josh, while fully capable of supporting any computer, don’t fit the mold of a prototypical PC technician.
We thank you for your continued support over the years and hope that you agree that this business decision is the right thing to do.

Ho-ho-ho, ha-ha-ha, hee-hee-hee….you had me at Windows!
(can’t wait for your phones to start ringing off the hooks…)
Happy April Fools day
Every April 1st, I get up in the morning and give thanks that Brian is not in the house.
If I didn’t know you so well…
This is a great idea! I’ve been wondering when you’d come around…
For a moment there, you had me worried and even for an April Fools joke, this is a SCARY thing!
